Customization Options For Manufactured Homes

Only few of the home manufacturers work on strict “as is” basis. As these manufacturers do not offer customization options, they will be able to order everything in bulk and their builders can work fast. In addition, there is little chance for anyone to commit any costly mistakes. This will mean huge savings for the buyer, but they will not be able to make the even a small change to the plan or materials used.

Majority of the home manufacturers will allow for customizations and some of them offer infinite customization chances. Moreover, some of the manufacturers do not even have any standard designs and model. Each of the homes that they manufacture starts from scratch. The various customization options offered by home manufacturers are explained below.

Changing Exterior

This is one among the easiest modifications that can be made to a home, as this usually means changing the style of window or siding. Let us assume that you were looking at a two-storey pre manufactured home design and you liked the floor plan, but you do not approve of the external design. In such cases, you could make changes to the exterior of the home to suit your personality and needs.

Changing the exterior can include changing the roof, windows, doors, and other such exterior components of the home. Making changes to the roof is one of the easiest customization that can be made to a manufactured home design. You may also change the angle and height of the roof, add dormers, or extend the awnings to add more personality to the home.

Changing Interior

Interior alterations like changing the type of cabinets to be used and using different flooring for different rooms are very common. Many of the manufactures allow for alterations that will not change the exterior features or position of walls, as these alterations can be done without extra charges.

Again, if you wish to change rooms around or remove walls, you will need to shell out extra money, but these alterations depend solely on the manufacturer. If your manufacturer does not allow for such changes, you then you will have to go with the fixed design.

An important factor that you need to consider while customizing the interior of your home is the appliances that you will be using. It is true that most of the appliances can be upgraded later, but having them installed and delivered with your home means you can have manufacturer’s discount on these appliances.
